Re: WaiWiki?
What exactly do you think is outdated in the WaiSays articles?
As far as I can see they are perfectly up-to-date, and it's good for newcomers to have many benefits of the diet listed like that, instead of having to search the wiki themselves, which I imagine will be quite extensive in the future.

Re: WaiWiki?
I like those articles, and it's probably just small details that are out of date, references not updated for 10 years, things like that.
But I can imagine having them in static html makes maintenance a bit harder.

Re: WaiWiki?
Hmm, you are right, its more for advanced interests.Oscar wrote:I don't think the WaiWiki is yet ready for 'customers'.
Thats easy enough, i think. It needs at least a somewhat presentable intro/main page.
I think that one should link to WaiSays.com, as more an 'opinion' / stance / philosophyMaybe that introduction page of the philosophy behind the diet can be on it as well.
The articleson WaiWiki should be more neutral, more scientific, i think.
Yes, they allneed adjustments, updating of references etc.Are all of the articles currently on WaiSays outdated
Well, maybe it just needs minor adjustments...Maia is already crying about her translation of the "genetics" article
'Things' need to be adjusted / added, particularly references.Maia wrote:What exactly do you think is outdated in the WaiSays articles?
True, you are right.it's good for newcomers to have many benefits of the diet listed like that, instead of having to search the wiki themselves, which I imagine will be quite extensive in the future.
Re: WaiWiki?
Yes, indeed.dime wrote:it's probably just small details that are out of date, references not updated for 10 years, things like that.
Exactly, but i dont want to add them to the Wiki like that, as the Wiki needs to be more neutral, i think. But I can imagine having them in static html makes maintenance a bit harder.
And indeed, i loving working on WaiWiki and not on WaiSays, exactly because WaiSays is static html...
Re: WaiWiki?
If you like, I can look into installing a CMS for easy editing of the WaiSays pages. Does that help?
Maia stopped crying, but is stomping her feet in anger now...

Yes, please.
Our webhost has a few instant web-apps available, including Joomla, which is a CMS.

Then Maia can also 'copy' any changes herself...

Re: WaiWiki?
Yeah, Joomla was one of the ones I had in mind, but I'll need to find out whether it's easy to incorporate on an already existing site.
Re: WaiWiki?
I suppose we'll need articles with a lower threshold as well as the more 'advanced' ones. Not sure how to organize that.
I've briefly looked into some CMS's, and it seems that we only need a simple one, to be able to edit the main text (and maybe a few other fields). CushyCMS looks like a CMS that fills that role. Joomla is nice, but more suited for larger sites which are being built from scratch. Unfortunately the internet in Belgium sucks big time, so I'll try it out when I'm back in Amsterdam (next week).

Yes, so i was thinking:Oscar wrote:I suppose we'll need articles with a lower threshold as well as the more 'advanced' ones. Not sure how to organize that.
WaiWiki for advanced / in-depth articles with lots of references for the advanced reader.
WaiSays for more simple, lower threshold articles
Ive expanded the WaiSays article about the effects of cooking on protein into a WaiWiki article for example (HCAs)
We could create a more simple version for WaiSays.
That would mean starting from scratch, no? (Just for WaiSays.com)
That way, the different sites (WaiSays. WaiDiet, WaiWiki, WaiTalk) would each have a different format,
which is good, i think, as it would create a distinction between them.
Re: WaiWiki?
Good plan. What would be the difference in format between WaiDiet and WaiSays?
I don't think we'll necessarily need to start from scratch, but it depends on the individual article, I suppose. Of course starting from scratch would give us the chance to clean up the html code.
I'll look more into Joomla (and other CMS's). Some CMS's seem to need a database...not sure how easy/doable that is.

I guess only the way its created? (? vs CMS?)Oscar wrote:Good plan. What would be the difference in format between WaiDiet and WaiSays?
We could create a different template / look.
Joomla is easily installed within our DDS hosting package, as our host will do the upload, installation and configuration for us...I don't think we'll necessarily need to start from scratch, but it depends on the individual article, I suppose. Re: WaiWiki?
Sure. We could change the look of the whole site while we're at it. Any ideas?RRM wrote:We could create a different template / look.
Ah well, that makes things easier.RRM wrote:Joomla is easily installed within our DDS hosting package, as our host will do the upload, installation and configuration for us...
Re: WaiWiki?
Since we are using the orange for WaiWiki and the fruitplate for WaiTalk,Oscar wrote:Sure. We could change the look of the whole site while we're at it. Any ideas?
we could use a kiwi for WaiDiet, a melon for WaiCure and we could use all the Wai drawings for WaiSays only...
And maybe replacing the fruitplate on WaiTalk by bananas?
I also think that WaiWorld, as a portal, should not have a 'logo'.
Shall i order it?Oscar wrote:Ah well, that makes things easier.RRM wrote:Joomla is easily installed within our DDS hosting package, as our host will do the upload, installation and configuration for us...
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: WaiWiki?
Hehehe, yeah we can incorporate the different fruits, but I was thinking about something more drastic
Sure, go ahead. Let's use it for the whole WaiWorld site then, not just WaiSays (thinking about the future...).RRM wrote:Shall i order it?
Re: WaiWiki?
What about this one ?
