Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
If we know the exact levels, we may be able to see where your digestion is off exactly.
For example:
1. You may lack bile acids
2. You may lack specific digestive enzymes
3. You may lack specific carriers
If you are lacking something, it will have a direct influence on specific blood levels.

Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
What blood levels do I need to look out for? Or would a picture of my results be helpful? My doctor tested standard things like ferritin, vitamin d etc.
I think the enzymes I recently got would adress 1 or 2. Digestive enzymes with HCl. I haven't been eating meat for teo days and I haven't had any cramps, less digestive discomfort overall and no new breakouts.
I also started using apple cider vinegar and coconut oil on my face and the flakiness is almost gone. I wonder if it really could be some type of yeast or bacteria...

Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
Would it be an idea to cut out all supplements of any kind and go 100% on the Wai diet? Like a 2-month experiment? You could even go on the Acne Sample Diet, just to make absolutely sure.
Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
It doesnt appear as normal acne to me.
There are way too many different specialist enzymes.
No way that the supplemented ones can replace all.
Given your digestion issue with animal food, it might be improper digestion of either fat or protein.
Thus it might be interesting to know your triglycerides level and fat soluble vitamins, particularly vitamin E and vitamin K1 and K2.
Given that you are quite skinny now, we also need the levels of essential amino acids, such as methionine, cysteine etc.
No, its not that simple.Mireia wrote:I think the enzymes I recently got would adress 1 or 2. Digestive enzymes with HCl.

Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
I was on the acne sample diet for two weeks with no bettering (see a few pages back) and am now on a Wai Diet with a few veggies occasionally (carrot).Oscar wrote:Would it be an idea to cut out all supplements of any kind and go 100% on the Wai diet? I am pretty sure it is not what I eat because I ate crap for 1 1/2 months recently and my skin was at its best.
It seems I am unable to digest certain foods and that is why probiotics helped so much.
The supplements I am taking are for regulating my hormones. Without them I lose hair, have worse acne and a 40 day menstrual cycle (normal is 28), filled with black sticky blood and PMS that gives me extreme body aches and a fever. It is so bad I can't deal without pain meds and sleeping it off so these supplements are a must.
The other supplements I am taking are fenugreek (because I don't make enough breastmilk) and Vitamin D because I don't make much Vitamin D.
However, I have had a time without them just before probiotics and there was no improvements, only worsening. My breastmilk almost dried up and my son lost weight and my hair started falling out again. My PMS came back and went away after one month back on the supplements.
You see I have ruled everything out, so I am focusing on the digestive issues at the moment.

Would a gastroenterologist test that? I went to one but wasn't offered any tests.
Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
But you were still taking a number of supplements, iirc? The thing is, that it's easier to figure out what the issue is from a neutral basic diet plus some lab tests. Also, it can take the body a while to recuperate/heal, even on the Wai diet. Even after a year on the Wai diet I still noticed (positive) changes in my body.Mireia wrote:I was on the acne sample diet for two weeks with no bettering (see a few pages back) ...

Only Fenugreek seed and Vitamin D.Oscar wrote:But you were still taking a number of supplements, iirc? The problem is that going off of the supplements is not possible because of the major problems I will suffer. I have taken these supplements in pre acne times too though. I only started having acne 10 months ago when my period returned.
My breakouts are always far worse before and during my period.
Lab tests: Every doctor I have seen doesn't seem to know about these tests, all they want to do is a colonoscopy. Doctors often prove to be pretty useless. If I know what exactly to test for I can try to request it possibly.
I understand what you mean that it can take a ling time to heal, just my acne issue wasn't there until fall of last year. It started from one month to another, so I don't think it is anything dietary. I was eating a Paleo diet prior to it which at least avoids foods like grains and dairy.
Weirdly, I can digest grains better than meat, fruits or veggies, which makes me think my gut needs to be fixed.
Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
I don't understand, if you can digest grains and don't have acne and feel better, why do you insist on a raw diet?
Or do grains cause you some other issues?
@everyone - don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting anything in particular, just having a discussion :)

Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
When I still had all my Health Issues (Hashimoto's, Prolactinoma, Pre Cervical Cancer +HPV) I went on the Paleo diet in the hopes to get better. The Paleo diet eliminates grains because they are bad in many different ways.
When I eat them, I do digest them, but after I will feel foggy and sometimes it can even be hard having a good conversation. I read most experience this effect though.
My health issues went away on the Paleo Diet. Quickly, after many years of just worsening. I am certain the diet helped, so I am always looking to improve my diet more.
My only problems are digestion and acne at the moment. And it is a new problem. It really puzzles me.

Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
I wanted to write a little update on the Parasite cleanse:
The past week I have been feeling less sick. Lately I have been having strong headaches daily, which can happen during a parasite cleanse and is often caused by the die off of the parasites.
I keep seeing little worms in my stool. I am not sure how to tell when I am done.
My skin has been pretty much the same since the last breakout (see my most recent, more clear picture).
I will be getting my period soon, so I wonder how much worse it will get this time.

Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
Thats actually an argument favouring the idea that your acne IS regular acne,Mireia wrote: I only started having acne 10 months ago when my period returned.
My breakouts are always far worse before and during my period.
as regular acne is strongly influenced by the menstruation (hormone) cycle,
due to the influence on water retention and sebum production.
However, many other conditions are influenced by this cycle as well.
In line with the idea that it might be regular acne after all; yours may be caused by a LACK of protein.
I understand that you eat very little animal food?
In that case its also very helpful to know whether your essential amino acid levels are adequate, or not...
Inadequate essential amino acid levels may cause various symptoms, including headaches (and localized water retention > acne).
I meant tests where they measure your blood values.Lab tests: Every doctor I have seen doesn't seem to know about these tests, all they want to do is a colonoscopy
You can choose what you want to have measured. (eg vitamin E, K, essential amino acids).
Your MD may refer you to the test lab.
Your digestion being off may be a symptom instead of the cause.Weirdly, I can digest grains better than meat, fruits or veggies, which makes me think my gut needs to be fixed.
Various deficiencies may cause your digestion to malfunction.
Lets think logical here.
What is the most striking thing about you?
That you are extremely thin.
So, lets go for the most obvious first: you may lack some nutrients.
If that is the case, its extremely important for you to find out.
Could you please ask your MD for (more) tests about this?
Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
Well yes, I still think hormones play a role. I had a pregnancy full of replacement hormones for my thyroid and pituitary gland, antacids and antibiotics or yeast/ antifungal creams. I think all these contributed to problems. I also had a C-Section = hello hormonal chaos!.RRM wrote:Thats actually an argument favouring the idea that your acne IS regular acne,Mireia wrote: I only started having acne 10 months ago when my period returned.

My current suspicion is this: My hormones are out of balance, causing my digestive system to malfunction, both are causing acne and possibly all the antibiotics and antifungals opened the door for more infections.
Okay, then I will try to bring a list. The ones you named would cover it all pretty much?RRM wrote:I meant tests where they measure your blood values.Lab tests: Every doctor I have seen doesn't seem to know about these tests, all they want to do is a colonoscopy

More tests as to why I am so thin and don't gain? I have begged doctors to figure that out all my life. No one has ever made a good suggestion. Hopefully a doctor will work with me. The problem is that they will ask why I want these specific tests, and when you say you tried to self diagnose/ researched on the web you get a lesson about how to not trust everything you read online . It is extremely frustrating.RRM wrote:Your digestion being off may be a symptom instead of the cause.Weirdly, I can digest grains better than meat, fruits or veggies, which makes me think my gut needs to be fixed.

One thing about my weight I noticed:
- I gained after starting the detox to regulate hormones and it has been easier keeping up my weight since.
- I gain when I eat starchy foods
- The past month and a half I have gained a lot of muscle. I really don't know why but my arms are looking really thick and I big firm muscles! My legs have also gotten more muscular....I don't like how it feels but I guess it might be good.
My weight is 48kg at the moment. It was 49.5 on SAD foods. I am 165cm "tall".
Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
Ok, that changes things, as it means that you dont lack essential amino acids.Mireia wrote: The past month and a half I have gained a lot of muscle.
Lets wait with the blood test until we established the proper scope.
So, ... starch is well digested and protein is well digested.
Do you notice a difference between digestion of very lean meat versus fatty meat?
Re: Strong 'Acne' and Indigestion progress
Okay thanks for explaining all this!
Meat: I haven't really compared it yet, but most meat I can buy here is pretty lean.
On some days I feel my digestion is worse and on some a little better.
I was wondering if the muscle gain could have to do with the probiotics, since that is the only thing I changed.
My sons weight hasn't changed really.

How do you feel that?Mireia wrote:On some days I feel my digestion is worse and on some a little better.
Do you feel that you (sometimes) can digest lean meat properly?
If you gained muscle weight, it means that more protein has been incorporated into muscle tissue,I was wondering if the muscle gain could have to do with the probiotics, since that is the only thing I changed.
which is an indication for proper protein digestion.
I doubt that the probiotics have anything to do with this.
How old is he now?My sons weight hasn't changed really.
How much does he weigh?
