There are many substances that for different people trigger allergies or symptoms that affect thinking. At such times, there is an opportunity to see that one is not dependent utterly on the mind... that one has a sense even to feel that the mind is just a part of what you are. I think at times that...

I think when you really welcome what happens with the body, you learn a lot...
Which is not to say you should go out and eat aspartame (MSG; etc.)....
When you are ill, you have no choice but to listen to the body.

Recently, I ate dried plums that had aspartame added... It was a Taiwanese or Japanese sweet I bought in an airport-- I did not read the label carefully. In a hotel room, I recognized what was happening, and had hours of reaction to it-- total distortion of perceptual and cognitive processes... othe...

oxidized cholesterol
Udo Erasmus, Ph.D.'s writings on fats emphasize coldpressed plant oils but comment less on raw cholesterol and fat: http://www.hdlighthouse.org/see/diet/triad/diet/erasmusrec.htm His advice is not that raw cholesterol should be consumed, but rather that cured meats and cooked eggs, meat and milk-- w...

Wai diet
glad you liked it.... :) My body appreciates the fact that this diet works with the body, even though the theory is certainly there too. There was an earlier thread that touched on the Doug Graham idea of splitting fat and sugar intake; I include it here: http://www.waitalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=977 W...

fat and sugar
An update--- Like another poster (Claireelis) in this section, I have in the past--- and sometimes still do-- split fat and sugar intake entirely, not mixing major sources of fat and sugar within a meal. It worked very well for me in treating candida in the past, a preexisting condition I had when b...

fats and sugar
Claire, I did also try splitting fat and sugar intake at times in the earliest days of the diet, as I had parasitosis and some candida problem secondary to that. It was very effective. I think there were other reasons why it did (other than the theory behind it by D. Graham)-- I will post some notes...

spruce gum
Spruce gum (Picea pungens) is something I have chewed in North America; it has a beautiful taste. I often tried to pick off and chew the sap from cherry trees when in the U.S. as a child. I often climbed trees and found its amber-colored sap mesmerizing; it was as lovely as the ripening cherries..

Acts of personal volition
I follow the Sample/Strict diet, and it works perfectly. It seems important to say that it is not an exact menu everyone must follow-- although it is in fact exact, and its basic outlines are not susceptible to 'acts of personal volition.' It is very beautiful to follow the body all the way, and in ...

candida
You must really observe and see what this might be; there are many ways that otherwise innocuous foods or combinations of foods may become a problem temporarily. I offer the examples above simply because this was not something I ever would have thought or read; I learned by simply watching and being...

Starches
Ah, well, my body cannot really digest starches much at all. The colon of my body is still sensitive after healing from 25 years of colitis. I eat mostly monosaccharides which don't require digesting in the way of breaking down bonds between sugars. Therefore ripe fruits whose starches have been con...

teeth
One may clean the mouth as Oscar suggests above and also get one's teeth checked at gradually-increasing intervals by a professional dentist... When I have had my teeth checked this way, I have not had them cleaned at the same time. I began by having them checked every 2 months; then increasing that.
