Im confused by the question of eating a high protein meal shortly before going to bed.
On one side as a general rule it is not recommended as the majority of people including myself cant sleep well.
On the other side its a well-known fact that our body is repairing itself during the night.
And who says "repairing the body", says "protein".
So which is it?
Protein or no protein?

You can experiment with how much time your body needs.
Maybe one hour before you go to sleep? Or 2 or 3? more?
As long as you do it a few hours before you go to sleep,
and you are not physically active (working, running etc) in between,
that protein is well used for reconstruction.

Although it's worth saying--and I've read this on the board before--that eating yolk less than an hour before bed could give you nightmares.
I ate yolk about 20 minutes before sleep last night, and though I slept fine (though a little restless), my nightmares were very vivid and seemed to last forever. It's so interesting how your mental state can be affected by your physical...digestion, of all things? I don't want to jump to conclusions, but like I said, I've heard this mentioned before.
Could eating yolks late at night really cause restless sleep (and/or nightmares)?

Thats because big changes in the blood amino acid levels affect neurotransmitter activity in the brain.
